What we wash with
Five plants. Nothing else.
The wash agent we use on every load is cold-process saponified at our workshop — coconut and olive base, infused with lavender, lemon peel and rosemary. Published in full, because you should know what touches your skin.

Coconut
Cold-pressed Indonesian coconut oil, saponified at the workshop. The cleaning fraction — the lift that pulls oil from a weave.

Olive
A soft, conditioning oil that rests against skin without stripping. The body of the agent, and the reason wool returns as wool.

Lemon peel
Cold-pressed peel oil. Brightens whites without a single drop of chlorine. Used on the whites cycle only.

Rosemary
Dried sprigs steeped in hot olive oil for fourteen days, then strained. A clean herbal finish on the linen and bedding cycle.

A wash, end to end
Four steps. One soft afternoon.
Most Tuesdays a wash takes a day and a night. We will tell you, in writing, which step yours is on.
Step 01 · Collection
A driver, a cotton tote, your door.
We pick up in unbleached cotton totes — never poly bags. Your laundry travels named, not numbered.
Step 02 · Cold-wash
19°C. Plant-based agent. One hour, ten minutes.
Cold water keeps cotton fibres long and pigments calm. We never go above 30°C. A small kindness, repeated.
Step 03 · Line-dried
Cotton line, north-facing, when the sky allows.
Singapore gives us nineteen good drying months out of every twenty-four. The rest go in a heat-pump dryer at low.
Step 04 · Folded, returned
Paper-lined basket. Returned in the tote it came in.
Folded by hand on a long pine table. A hand-stamped care card sits on top. We re-use the tote on the next collection.

Some absences are the whole point.

Only steam-distilled essential oils. The scent is the plant.

The workshop
A small laundry workshop, on Yong Siak Street.
Linden & Line began in 2019 in a single shophouse unit, with three front-loader machines, a north-facing balcony line, and a long pine folding table. We are still on the same street, with the same table.
We saponify our own wash agent in a back room - six-week cure, by the book - so we know exactly what touches your laundry. We publish what is in it. The shelf of labelled jars behind the folding table is for our own reference, not the till.
"We do not bleach. We do not press synthetics. We do not chase fragrance." - the workshop, in one sentence.
We are six people: two on collection, two on the wash floor, two folding. Our daughter occasionally re-stamps the care cards in lavender ink, which is why some of them are a little crooked. We thought you should know.
